Orietal Turtle Dove
DOVES – Columbidae
Oriental Turtle Dove
They usually live in the forest but they also appear in rocky mountains or in fields. Some birds are living in a temperate climate and they migrate to warmer places during the winter.
They are mainly active during the day searching for food on the ground. They can fly very well but they also move easily on the ground. They live in groups except in the breeding season. Their nests are very simple and are on a rock or in a tree.
In Hanoi Zoo they are fed nuts, various insects and small snails.
They are monogamous species and usually they pair up for a long time. They lay two eggs in each brood and do this twice a year. The eggs can incubate for 14 to 30 days.
