• Distribution
They live in the high mountains of the Himalayas, northwest of China, India and Nepal. In the winter they immigrate to the south.
• Habitat
This bird species builds its nest high in the mountains on a rock or in a big tree. It use all kinds of material to built its nest like wood, leaves, old feathers and garbage left by tourists. An adult can weigh up to 20 kg and their wingspan stretches up to 2 m.
• Behaviour
They eat all kind of small animals like rabbits, reptiles, rats and other little birds. In the Hanoi Zoo the Eurasian Black Vultures are fed all kind of meats like beef, chicken and little birds. The Eurasian Black Vulture lays one to three eggs in each brood which can incubate for 52 to 60 days. Both of the parents, mother and father will look after the new born chicks. This bird species has a very long lifetime, the average lifetime is around 40 years.
