• Distribution
This species appaer from northern provinces to Quinhon of Vietnam. In the world they appear in the Himalayas, Burma, Thailand and Lao.
• Habitat
They live in a wide range of ecological habitats like pine forest, bamboo forest, tropical rain forest as well in more open areas.
• Behaviour
They usually live in groups, but sometimes you can find an individual living alone. The bird can weigh up to 0,9 kg and usually the male of the species is a little bit bigger than the females. This bird never leaves its nest for a long period and it will always stay close to it. Their nests are very simple. It is a little hole in the ground near the foot of the tree or bamboo bush. In the wild this species only eats fruit and all kind of insects. In the Hanoi Zoo they are fed fruit, rice and all kind of insects. They lay two eggs which can incubate for 21 days. As soon the chicks are born they follow their mother when she is searching for food. Within a couple of weeks the chicks are able to search for their own food.
